I'll Be Back!
Having waited for three weeks, we finally got to ride the DC semi-final. The rain stayed away, the track was perfect, the field was strong, and I was in pretty good shape too.
The only thing, that wasn't o.k., was my engine, which failed in my two first heats.
Of course, it isn't fun to miss the finals because of a bad engine, but that's just one of life's mishaps. There is nothing to be done about it, and I'm not going to grieve over it.
It would have been much more alarming, if I had been the one not living up to expectations. But, actually, I'm doing quite well those days, and I even feel, that I'm improving.
So, I'm not worried. I'll definitely be back again in next year's championship.
Yours,
Claus Vissing

Engine Failure in the DC Semi Final
After several attempts to stage the second semi final in this years National Danish Championship, the event finally took place on Tuesday night after being moved to Fjelsted just a few hours earlier.
Even here, the weather gods sent a reminder of their existence in the shape of a shower an hour before start. They stopped at that, though, and the meeting ran according to schedule.
Claus was in great shape for the night, which is more than could be said about his engine, since in both of his first heats it stopped after less than a lap, leaving him to pull his bike off the track without a single point and making his achieving one of the five passports to the finals depend on nothing less than a minor miracle.
